11th Street Bridge - Officer Kevin J. Welsh Memorial Bridge This bridge rehabilitation project involved obtaining detailed topographic and structural data for this extension of the South East Freeway over the Anacostia River. The tremendous amount of traffic, along with the need to work under the bridge for girder measurements and under the water for channel depth made this project very challenging. We were proud to have delivered the job on-time and at budget with virtually no interruption of normal traffic flow. Women in Military Service Memorial – Arlington National Cemetery This project involved supplying highly accurate construction control points and stakeout for a uniquely challenging site. Our on-site control was critical for the excavation and structural components of the project, the monitoring of the existing historical wall façade, as well as the placement of finished marble wall facing. We were honored to contribute to this project’s success. Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E. - From the Anacostia to the DC Boundary This on-going effort is a District of Columbia “Great Streets” project. Pennsylvania Avenue is considered one of the gateways to our nation’s capital. Maddox was engaged to provide accurate topographic mapping for nearly two miles of this major urban avenue. Using innovative control and aerial mapping techniques, we were able to provide the base mapping for this complex project within the District’s aggressive schedule and budget. Our current efforts will be to support the detailed engineering phase of the project through field survey acquisition of topographic, utility, and property data.
Denit Estates - Montgomery County, Maryland A community of 100 single family homes located on 670 acres north of Olney in Montgomery County, Maryland. Maddox was retained by the trustee of a prominent charitable trust to provide land surveying, engineering design and construction layout services for the entire 100 lot residential development. The project was unique and challenging due to the fact that the property was comprised of five separate parcels of land separated by a State Highway and a major electric transmission line. The development was designed by clustering the residential lots this allowed the preservation of 185 acres of environmentally sensitive land and the creation 450 acres of open space. Logan Station - Washington, DC A community of 61 residential condominium homes located at intersection of R Street and Vermont Avenue just north of historic Logan Circle in NW Washington, DC. Maddox was a key player on the project team and provided land surveying engineering design, construction layout and condominium subdivision plating. As with all land development projects and especially in the District of Columbia precise and complete survey work is the foundation for all architectural and engineering design. Georgia Square - Montgomery County, Maryland A community of 30 garage town homes located at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Plyers Mill Road in Montgomery County, Maryland. Maddox was chosen by a national builder to provide land planning, land surveying, engineering design, and landscape architecture and construction layout services for introduction of a new housing product. Working closely with the builders design team Maddox designed and transformed the 1.8 acre site from an obsolete and abandoned medical office building into one of the showcase projects of Maryland's "smart growth initiative". The project required extensive coordination with the Maryland National Capitol Planning Commission including several public hearings to gain approvals for the project. Cypress Run - Montgomery County, Maryland A community of 40 single family homes located on 87 acres east of Woodfield Road and adjacent to the Montgomery County, Agricultural History Farm Park. Maddox was selected by a national builder to provide land surveying, engineering design and construction layout services. The visual impact of the development being adjacent to the Montgomery County History Farm Park posed a serious concern to the Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Commission and threatened to delay the project. Several special meetings were held at the site with representatives of the Commission to design and mitigate the visual impact of the development as viewed from the Farm Park. Maddox assisted the client during negotiations with the Commission by providing site line studies and consultation leading to a successful resolution. Other services Maddox provided for the project included the extension and design of three county roadways, the extension of Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission water lines, flood plain studies, storm drain and paving plans, site grading and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, construction layout and as-built plans for the constructed improvements. Nottingham Woods - Montgomery County, Maryland A community of 7 single family homes located on 6 acres west of New Hampshire Avenue. Maddox was selected to provide land surveying, environmental site assessment, engineering design and construction layout services. The subdivision included extension of the public water and sewer utilities and the construction of a modified public street. The Builder opted for fairly large home types necessitating very careful site planning and construction layout. Bonifant Heights - Montgomery County, Maryland A community of 6 single family homes located between New Hampshire Avenue and Old Bonifant Road in northern Silver Spring. Maddox was selected to provide land surveying, environmental site assessment, engineering design and construction layout services. The subdivision included extension of the public sewer utility and the recording of a State Highway Right-Of-Way plat. Unique solutions for access and accommodation of an ICC-related reservation were some of the challenges posed by this successful project. Liberty Village - Frederick County, Maryland A co-housing community of 39 homes located on Route 26 at Route 31 in Liberty, Maryland. Maddox was engaged to provide land surveying, conceptual and engineering design, environmental site assessment (including wetlands determination), APFO studies and construction layout services for this Planned Unit Development (PUD). This unique project included extension of the public sewer and water utilities, construction of a public street, and extensive storm water management facility design. This project was built to the current capacity indicated by the APFO study, and is now beginning the second and final phase of development. |
